Nineteen buildings, one page each
A reference guide to hotel buildings worth a second look for what they are made of, what they were before, or the way a bed is fitted into them. Every building has a page of its own: what the structure was, where it stands, and what can be seen inside it.

- IceIce HotelsHalls of snow and ice that are raised at the start of the cold months and shaped again every year.
- ArtArt HotelsOlder houses in European cities that carried another function long before rooms were fitted inside them.
- CapsuleCapsule HotelsJapanese houses where the berth is enclosed and washing, storage and sitting are shared between floors.
- CasinoCasino HotelsLarge Canadian resorts described through their buildings, theatres and dining floors rather than their licensed part.
Every building in the guide
Each entry opens its own page. The colour of a line says which part of the guide it belongs to.
How the guide is made
Buildings were chosen for the structure rather than the stay, and everything here is drawn from published material. There are no figures, no marks out of five, no booking buttons and no paid links. Winter buildings are cut again from new material every year, so the halls on a page belong to one season.
