Two tiers of sleeping berths with screens running the length of a floor

The Millennials Shibuya

Tokyo, Japan

The Millennials is a small chain and this is its Shibuya address in central Tokyo, one house among several under the same name. Each guest is given an enclosed berth rather than a room, set in two tiers along the sleeping floors. The berth holds a powered bed that shifts between lying flat and sitting up, with a screen drawn across the opening.

Washing, storage and dressing are handled on shared floors, with lockers held apart from the berths. A common floor is fitted out for working and sitting, with long tables, seating and a kitchen counter, and it stays open through the day. The house is described as taking guests of any gender on separate floors.

The building stands in Shibuya, a few minutes on foot from the station and the crossings around it. Trains on several lines run through that station, so the address is reached without changing from most parts of the city, and the surrounding streets are busy well into the night.
