Fallsview Casino Resort was raised on the slope above the Niagara gorge on the Ontario side, and opened in 2004. The site falls steeply, so the complex is set into the hillside and its levels step down towards the water rather than standing on a flat base. A hotel tower rises from the upper part, and the whole is joined to the streets above by covered walkways.
The public parts include a theatre used for concerts, a run of dining rooms, a spa level, retail galleries and rooms held for events. The hotel floors sit in the tower, and much of the glazing on the gorge side is turned towards the falls. Walkways connect the complex to the neighbouring streets without going outdoors.
Below the complex the parkland along the gorge runs in both directions, with paths along the head of the bank and the falls a short walk to the north. The tourist streets on the ridge above hold most of the town's other attractions within the same few blocks.
